Description

Acacia Pressure Plate is a non-solid redstone component that outputs a signal of strength 15 whenever a player, mob, item, arrow, or experience orb rests on top. After activation, a check runs every 20 game ticks (one second), and the signal ends once no entity remains on top. Weak power reaches the neighboring blocks, and strong power reaches the block directly below.

Acacia Pressure Plate is crafted from two Acacia Planks placed side by side, giving one plate, and also generates in some savanna village houses. Any tool, or bare hands, breaks Acacia Pressure Plate and drops it as an item, although an axe is the fastest choice. In a Furnace, Acacia Pressure Plate burns as fuel and smelts 1.5 items. Acacia Pressure Plate works exactly like every other wooden pressure plate, so the choice between Acacia and Oak changes the color, not the behavior. Acacia Pressure Plate appeared in Java Edition 1.13 and Bedrock Edition 1.4.0.

Guide

How to use Acacia Pressure Plate in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft the plate

Place two Acacia Planks side by side on the crafting grid to get one Acacia Pressure Plate.

  2. 2

    Pick a support block

Use Acacia Pressure Plate on the top of a block with a full top surface, such as Stone; leaves cannot hold a pressure plate.

  3. 3

    Connect a mechanism

Put a Redstone Lamp or a Piston beside Acacia Pressure Plate, because weak power reaches every neighboring block while Acacia Pressure Plate is pressed.

  4. 4

    Step on top

Walk onto Acacia Pressure Plate to send the signal of strength 15, which lasts while any entity stays on top.

Detect without blocking

Placing Acacia Pressure Plate on top of an Acacia Fence detects entities without stopping them, because entities can move through the plate while still activating it.

Frequently asked questions

Do item frames activate Acacia Pressure Plate?

In Java Edition, item frames cannot activate a wooden pressure plate, but they keep an already pressed wooden pressure plate active. Players in Spectator Mode cannot activate or hold a pressure plate either.

Can water or lava destroy Acacia Pressure Plate?

No. Water and lava do not break pressure plates, so builders use pressure plates to contain fluids. In Bedrock Edition, pressure plates can also be waterlogged.

What happens if the block under Acacia Pressure Plate is removed?

Acacia Pressure Plate drops as an item when the block beneath moves, disappears, or breaks. A Piston that pushes the plate or moves a block into its space has the same effect.

Can a fast entity skip Acacia Pressure Plate?

Yes. An entity moving fast enough can phase through a pressure plate without activating it.

What does a player stand on when using Acacia Pressure Plate?

Pressure plates are not solid, so a player on top actually stands on the block underneath. The height is 1/16 of a block when inactive and 1/32 of a block when active.
