A custom crafting recipe is a player-defined rule that turns a set of ingredients into an item. On Minecraft Java 1.21+ you add one with a datapack — a small folder holding a recipe JSON file. The AlaCraft Custom Crafts Generator builds that file visually and exports a vanilla datapack plus CraftTweaker and MineTweaker scripts.
This guide covers a method-by-version decision table, the anatomy of a recipe datapack (pack.mcmeta and a JSON example), the "recipes vs recipe" folder trap in 1.21, installing on a world and a server, modded-pack recipes, and a troubleshooting checklist.
