Description
The Wayfinder Armor Trim Smithing Template adds a compass-rose, navigation-themed pattern to armor pieces and arrived with Java Edition 1.20 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.0 as part of trail ruins archaeology. The motif evokes paths, exploration and long journeys, and it can be applied to any armor piece at a smithing table. The template is not chest loot: it hides inside rare suspicious gravel and is freed with a brush, drawn from a shared twelve-entry loot pool at a 1-in-12 (8.3%) chance — the same pool and odds as the Host, Raiser and Shaper templates.
To apply the trim, combine one armor piece, one trim material — iron, copper, gold, lapis, emerald, diamond, netherite, redstone, amethyst, quartz or resin brick — and the template at a smithing table; it is consumed in the process. The trim is cosmetic only and does not change armor stats, durability or enchantments. A used template is easy to replace: at a crafting table, seven diamonds and one terracotta yield two copies.
