Description

The Warden Spawn Egg is a creative-only item that instantly spawns a Warden, the blind hostile mob introduced in Minecraft 1.19, the Wild Update. Right-clicking the egg on a surface places a fully grown Warden, which rises from the ground with its signature digging animation. Like every spawn egg, it is available only in the Creative inventory or through the /give command — there is no survival recipe and no mob drops it. The egg shows a dark teal base with cyan speckles, matching the Warden's bioluminescent skin. Players use it to test sculk farms, practise dodging the sonic boom attack, or stage Deep Dark builds without hunting for a naturally spawned Warden. Because the Warden detects vibrations and smell rather than sight, spawning one with the egg is the safest way to study its sensing behaviour in a controlled area. The mob has 500 health and powerful attacks, so spawn it only where you can retreat.

Java & Bedrock Guide

How to use the Warden Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Open the Creative inventory

Switch to Creative mode and find the Warden Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab, or run /give @s minecraft:warden_spawn_egg.

  2. 2

    Aim at a solid surface

Point the crosshair at the floor or a block where you want the Warden to appear, leaving open space above it.

  3. 3

    Right-click to spawn

Use the egg (right-click on Java, tap on Bedrock) to place a Warden, which rises from the ground over a few seconds.

  4. 4

    Keep your distance

Move away quietly, since the Warden tracks vibrations and smell; sprinting or breaking blocks nearby will anger it.

Creative only

The Warden Spawn Egg cannot be obtained or used in Survival mode; it exists only in Creative and through commands.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get a Warden Spawn Egg in Survival?

No. Spawn eggs are creative-only items; in Survival a Warden only appears when sculk shriekers are triggered in the Deep Dark.

What version added the Warden Spawn Egg?

It arrived with the Warden in Minecraft 1.19, the Wild Update, released in June 2022.

Does the spawned Warden despawn?

Yes. A Warden that goes about 60 seconds without detecting a target digs back underground and despawns.

How much health does a spawned Warden have?

A Warden has 500 health points (250 hearts), making it the toughest non-boss mob in the game.
