Splash Potion is brewed by adding gunpowder to any regular potion at a brewing stand. The gunpowder converts the drinkable bottle into a throwable projectile that shatters on contact with any solid surface or entity. On impact, it creates a small effect cloud and applies the potion's effect to every entity within the radius, including the thrower if standing close enough.

This makes the format essential for applying effects to other players or mobs rather than just yourself. Healing potions thrown at undead mobs deal damage since their effect is inverted on them. Harming potions heal undead. Slowness and weakness variants are core to PvP kits and mob farm control. The Splash Potion also forms the precursor to Lingering Potions, which create persistent area effect clouds. Splash water bottles — splash potions made without an ingredient — extinguish fire on entities and can remove powder snow stacks. Brewing efficiency improves with Blaze Powder fuel and a Nether Wart base.
