Description

Snow Golem Spawn Egg is a Creative-only item in Minecraft that spawns a snow golem the moment you right-click it onto a solid block. Snow Golem Spawn Egg cannot be crafted and never appears in the Survival inventory — players obtain it from the Creative inventory or with the command /give @s minecraft:snow_golem_spawn_egg. Like every spawn egg, Snow Golem Spawn Egg was added in Java Edition 1.1 and carries a pale two-tone design that sets it apart on the hotbar. The egg works in both Java and Bedrock Edition.

The snow golem produced by Snow Golem Spawn Egg throws snowballs at nearby hostile mobs, dealing knockback to most enemies and real damage to blazes. A snow golem leaves a trail of snow layers across grass in cold and snowy biomes, which makes Snow Golem Spawn Egg handy for quick snowball farms. The spawned snow golem takes damage in warm biomes such as desert and savanna, and in rain or water. In Survival, the same mob is built by stacking two snow blocks and topping them with a carved pumpkin.

How to use a Snow Golem Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get the spawn egg

Switch to Creative mode and find Snow Golem Spawn Egg in the Spawn Eggs tab, or run /give @s minecraft:snow_golem_spawn_egg to add it to your hotbar.

  2. 2

    Aim at a solid block

Point your crosshair at the floor or any solid surface where you want the snow golem to appear; leave at least two blocks of open vertical space.

  3. 3

    Right-click to spawn

Use the Snow Golem Spawn Egg (right-click on Java, tap on Bedrock) to instantly spawn one snow golem on that block.

  4. 4

Place it in a cold biome

Spawn the snow golem in a snowy or cold biome so it survives and leaves a trail of snow layers you can harvest for snowballs.

Important

The spawned snow golem takes continuous damage in warm biomes (desert, jungle, savanna) and when exposed to rain or water. Keep it in cold or snowy biomes, or shelter it indoors.

Frequently asked questions

Can you craft a Snow Golem Spawn Egg?

No. Snow Golem Spawn Egg cannot be crafted and is not in the Survival inventory; you get it only from the Creative inventory or with the /give command.

How do you build a snow golem without the spawn egg?

Stack two snow blocks on top of each other and place a carved pumpkin on top. This works in Survival and spawns the same snow golem the egg produces.

What does the snow golem do?

The snow golem throws snowballs at hostile mobs, knocking most of them back and dealing damage to blazes. It also leaves a trail of snow layers in cold biomes.

Does Snow Golem Spawn Egg work in Bedrock Edition?

Yes. Snow Golem Spawn Egg exists in both Java and Bedrock Edition and spawns the snow golem the same way in each.

Why does my snow golem keep dying?

Snow golems take damage in warm biomes and in rain or water. Spawn it in a snowy or cold biome, or keep it under a roof to prevent melting.
