Description

The Sheep Spawn Egg is a Creative-only item that spawns a sheep the moment a player uses it on a block surface. Sheep Spawn Eggs cannot be crafted, mined, or found in Survival mode — the Creative inventory and the /give command are the only two sources. Each Sheep Spawn Egg spawns exactly one adult sheep with a natural wool color, most often white, with rare black, gray, brown, and pink variants appearing by chance. Sheep Spawn Eggs stack to 64, so a single inventory slot holds dozens of spawn attempts, but the eggs are classified as non-renewable because no survival method produces them. Sheep Spawn Eggs entered Java Edition in version 1.1 (snapshot 11w49a) and reached Bedrock players in Pocket Edition Alpha v0.7.0.

Guide

How to use a Sheep Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Open the Creative inventory

Sheep Spawn Eggs live on the Creative inventory's Spawn Eggs tab, so switch to Creative mode with the /gamemode creative command to see them.

  2. 2

Place an egg on the hotbar

Drag a Sheep Spawn Egg into one of the nine hotbar slots so the item is ready to use without opening any menu mid-game.

  3. 3

    Right-click a surface

Right-click any solid block top, and the Sheep Spawn Egg instantly spawns one adult sheep on that block, consuming a single egg from the stack.

  4. 4

Breed a baby from an adult

Right-click an adult sheep instead of empty space, and the Sheep Spawn Egg produces a baby sheep that inherits the parent's wool color exactly.

  5. 5

    Refill the stack

Pick up more Sheep Spawn Eggs from the Creative inventory any time, because the eggs stack to 64 and never break from repeated use.

Survival limitation

Sheep Spawn Eggs cannot be crafted or obtained in Survival mode; the Creative inventory and the /give command are the only sources.
