Description
The Shaper Armor Trim Smithing Template was added in Java Edition 1.20 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.0 together with trail ruins archaeology. It is not chest loot: the template hides inside rare suspicious gravel and is freed by brushing the block, drawn from a shared twelve-slot loot pool at 1-in-12 (8.3%) odds — the same pool and the same odds as the Host, Raiser, and Wayfinder templates. The Shaper Armor Trim is thus one of four armor patterns found exclusively in trail ruins excavations.
Application happens at the smithing table: place an armor piece, one trim material (iron, copper, gold, lapis lazuli, emerald, diamond, netherite, redstone, amethyst, quartz, or resin brick) and the template, which is consumed by the operation. The result is purely cosmetic — defense, durability, and every other statistic stay untouched. A used template is easy to replace: combine one with seven diamonds and one terracotta at a crafting table, which yields two copies.
