Red Shrub is a non-solid plant block that occasionally generates in patches across dappled forests. A red shrub breaks instantly with any item or by hand and always drops itself, so harvesting costs no tools. Unlike most other plants, Red Shrub is not biome tinted and keeps its red color in every biome where the shrub is planted. Water flowing over a red shrub, a piston pushing into the shrub, or losing the block underneath breaks Red Shrub, which then drops as an item, while lava destroys the shrub without any drop.

Red Shrub works as a renewable decorative plant: using bone meal on a red shrub attempts to grow another red shrub on a horizontally or vertically neighboring block. The shrub can be placed on eleven ground blocks, including grass blocks, dirt, podzol, moss blocks and mycelium. Red Shrub cannot be placed in flower pots, and on Bedrock Edition the shrub can be snowlogged. Red Shrub is flammable, so keep red shrubs away from open fire. Minecraft added Red Shrub in Java Edition 26.3 and Bedrock Edition 26.40.
