Description

Block of Raw Copper compresses nine raw copper into a single block on the crafting grid — the same 9-to-1 ratio shared by every mineral storage block in the game. The reverse recipe also works: place one block in any crafting slot and receive nine raw copper back, lossless. This makes it purely a storage solution for the enormous quantities of pre-smelted copper that pile up after even a moderate mining run — copper ore peaks around Y=48, dripstone caves generate extra-large copper blobs, and rare large ore veins even include naturally generated Block of Raw Copper.

The visual presentation is rough chunks of unrefined ore packed tightly together, with the same orange-brown tone as raw copper itself. Unlike the smelted copper block, this one does not oxidise — there is no green-tinted variant — because it represents the unprocessed raw material rather than the worked metal. Builders sometimes use Block of Raw Copper as a textured accent on industrial bases, miner-themed builds, or as filler for cave-themed builds where the rough texture suggests unprocessed wealth waiting to be smelted.

Storage Guide

How to use Block of Raw Copper in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Collect raw copper

Mine copper ore or deepslate copper ore and keep the raw copper drops un-smelted if Block of Raw Copper storage is your goal.

  2. 2

    Craft the storage block

Place 9 raw copper items in a 3x3 crafting grid to make 1 Block of Raw Copper for compact chest or inventory storage.

  3. 3

    Unpack before smelting

Put 1 Block of Raw Copper in any crafting slot to receive 9 raw copper items back, then smelt those items into copper ingots when needed.

  4. 4

    Build with the rough texture

Use Block of Raw Copper as an orange-brown ore accent in mines, industrial rooms, storage halls, or cave builds where oxidized copper would look too polished.

Oxidation note

Block of Raw Copper does not oxidize. Oxidation states belong to worked copper — Block of Copper and its cut, chiseled, slab, and stair variants, doors, trapdoors, grates, bulbs, bars, chains, lanterns, chests, golem statues, and lightning rods — never to raw storage blocks.
