Description

Pearlescent Froglight is a light-emitting block added in Minecraft 1.19 (The Wild Update) that glows at the maximum light level of 15 and drops when a warm frog eats a small Magma Cube. The pearlescent variant is the only one with a soft pink hue, distinct from the green Verdant Froglight produced by cold frogs and the yellow Ochre Froglight produced by temperate frogs. Pearlescent Froglight is fully renewable (no crafting recipe is needed; players can breed frogs on slime and lure Magma Cubes to them) and carries a low hardness of 0.3 with an equal blast resistance of 0.3.

A single Pearlescent Froglight column lights a 15-block radius, matching Glowstone and Sea Lanterns in output while reading as a warmer, more organic block in Nether hubs and frog farms. Pearlescent Froglight breaks instantly by hand and is not sped up by any tool, so a player can harvest a full stack of 64 without durability loss. The cross-shaped pattern on each face rotates as the block is placed, giving builders a tidy accent block that pairs naturally with pale-bulb lighting, pink palettes, and the pearlescent map color visible on cartography tables.

Guide

How to get a Pearlescent Froglight in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Breed a warm frog

Lure two frogs with slimeballs and feed each one a slimeball on moss or mud in a warm biome such as a jungle or desert, which produces a warm frog, the only frog type that drops Pearlescent Froglight.

  2. 2

Lead the frog to a small Magma Cube

Bring the warm frog to the Nether and let a small Magma Cube approach, since frogs only eat the smallest cube size and ignore medium and large Magma Cubes.

  3. 3

Wait for the frog to eat

Watch the warm frog snap up the small Magma Cube, which causes one Pearlescent Froglight to drop on the ground beside the frog.

  4. 4

    Collect the dropped block

Pick up the Pearlescent Froglight with a bare hand, because the block breaks instantly and no tool speeds up the harvest.

  5. 5

Place the froglight for level-15 light

Set the Pearlescent Froglight in a base or farm to emit a full light level of 15 across a 15-block radius, the same output as Glowstone and Sea Lanterns.

Frog type matters

Only the warm frog produces Pearlescent Froglight. A cold frog produces Verdant Froglight and a temperate frog produces Ochre Froglight from the same Magma Cube meal.

Frequently asked questions

How do you get a Pearlescent Froglight in Minecraft?

A Pearlescent Froglight drops when a warm frog eats a small Magma Cube. Feed two frogs slimeballs on moss or mud in a warm biome like a jungle to breed a warm frog, then lure it to a small Magma Cube in the Nether.

Does Pearlescent Froglight emit light?

Yes. Pearlescent Froglight glows at light level 15, the maximum possible, matching Glowstone, Sea Lanterns, and Conduits in output across a 15-block radius.

Is Pearlescent Froglight renewable?

Yes, Pearlescent Froglight is fully renewable because players can breed unlimited frogs on slime and farm unlimited small Magma Cubes from Nether spawners or Bastion farms.

What is the difference between Pearlescent, Verdant, and Ochre Froglight?

The three froglights share the same light level 15 and block stats, but each comes from a different frog: warm frogs drop Pearlescent, cold frogs drop Verdant, and temperate frogs drop Ochre.

What tool breaks Pearlescent Froglight fastest?

No tool helps. Pearlescent Froglight breaks instantly with a bare hand, and pickaxes, axes, and shovels do not speed up the harvest.

Is Pearlescent Froglight resistant to explosions?

No. Pearlescent Froglight has a blast resistance of only 0.3 and a hardness of 0.3, so Creepers, TNT, and Ghast fireballs destroy it easily.
