Description

Pale Moss Carpet is a paper-thin decorative block introduced in Minecraft 1.21.2 (Java Edition) and 1.21.50 (Bedrock Edition) as part of the Pale Garden biome, a haunted pale oak forest where creaking hearts lurk among bleached trees. Two Pale Moss Blocks arranged in the 2x2 inventory grid yield three Pale Moss Carpets, and using Bone Meal on a Pale Moss Block grows fresh carpets directly onto the surface. Hardness and blast resistance are both 0.1, a hoe is the fastest tool, and Pale Moss Carpet is flammable, igniting in lava like every other carpet in the game.

Pale Moss Carpet covers full blocks below it with a pale, frost-tinged green texture that reads as moss growing across cave and forest floors, and a vine texture appears on adjacent surfaces when placed against walls. Pale Moss Carpet is fully spawn-proof: because the layer is not a full block, hostile mobs cannot spawn on top of it, making the carpet a quiet, torch-free way to keep dark Pale Garden interiors and mob farm floors safe. Pale Moss Carpet also feeds a composter at a 30 percent chance per block, and cannot be pushed by pistons.

How to use Pale Moss Carpet in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Craft from Pale Moss Blocks

Open the 2x2 inventory grid and place two Pale Moss Blocks in any two cells to produce three Pale Moss Carpets.

  2. 2

Place the carpet on a solid surface

Right-click any full block to lay Pale Moss Carpet flat; the carpet needs a solid block beneath it and pops off if that block is removed.

  3. 3

    Grow carpets with Bone Meal

Use Bone Meal on a Pale Moss Block to grow fresh Pale Moss Carpets directly onto the surrounding surface, skipping crafting entirely.

  4. 4

    Spawn-proof dark floors

Cover the full blocks in a dark interior with Pale Moss Carpet; hostile mobs cannot spawn on the thin layer, so no torches are needed.

Flammable

Pale Moss Carpet is flammable and ignites in lava, so keep the carpet away from fire sources in survival builds.

Is Pale Moss Carpet renewable?

Yes. Using Bone Meal on a Pale Moss Block grows fresh Pale Moss Carpets onto the surface, and Pale Moss Blocks themselves are renewable in the Pale Garden biome.

Can Pale Moss Carpet be used as fuel?

No. Pale Moss Carpet cannot be used as fuel in a furnace, although it is flammable and burns in lava.

Can pistons move Pale Moss Carpet?

No. Pale Moss Carpet cannot be pushed by pistons; attempting to do so breaks the carpet.
