Description

Nether Gold Ore is netherrack speckled with bright golden flecks, generating naturally throughout the dimension between Y=10 and Y=117. Concentrations are highest near bastion remnants and at moderate elevations away from biome boundaries, but isolated veins appear randomly almost everywhere. Unlike Overworld gold ore, this variant does not drop the block itself when mined with silk touch — it always returns gold nuggets, ranging from two to six per block depending on Fortune enchantment and luck.

This quirk makes it a much faster gold source than Overworld mining for unprocessed material, since each block effectively acts as a smelted-and-decompressed result without needing a furnace. The drawback is that piglin and zombified piglin mobs in the area become hostile when they witness the player breaking the ore — a Nether-specific aggression mechanic that does not apply to other ore types. Mining with iron tier or higher is required to register any drop; wood and stone pickaxes simply break the block and lose the resource entirely.
