How to Make Mud Brick Stairs in Minecraft
Mud Brick Stairs
Mud Brick Stairs are the decorative stair variant of mud bricks, generating in trail ruins (buried archaeological structures) and crafted from six mud bricks.
Description
The mud brick chain runs unbroken from block to staircase: packed mud becomes mud bricks, and mud bricks become Mud Brick Stairs — one crafting line from raw material to finished steps. Mud Brick Stairs stack to 64 per slot, so a whole staircase travels in one inventory column. Players who mine trail ruins for ready-made mud brick blocks can extend every staircase afterwards with crafted Mud Brick Stairs, keeping the same look without hunting another ruin.

How to Get Mud Brick Stairs in Minecraft
-
1
Collect mud bricks
Craft four mud bricks from four packed mud blocks arranged in a 2×2 grid, or mine mud bricks inside trail ruins.
-
2
Craft Mud Brick Stairs
Lay six mud bricks in a stair shape on the crafting grid: three down the left column, two in the middle column, and one in the bottom-right cell. The recipe returns four Mud Brick Stairs.
-
3
Cut single bricks in a stonecutter
Place one mud brick into a stonecutter to receive one Mud Brick Stair — a one-to-one conversion with no pattern to arrange.
-
4
Mine the stairs with a pickaxe
Break Mud Brick Stairs with any pickaxe — even a wooden pickaxe qualifies. Breaking Mud Brick Stairs without a pickaxe drops nothing.
-
5
Visit trail ruins
Mud Brick Stairs generate as part of trail ruins — buried archaeological structures in forested biomes. Locate a ruin, dig down, and mine the stair blocks in place.
Mud Brick Stairs are not flammable and are not destroyed by lava, so staircases near fireplaces or lava lakes stay intact.
