The Miner Pottery Sherd is never crafted on a grid and never appears in Trail Ruins loot, which only holds the Burn, Danger, Friend, Heart, Heartbreak, Howl, and Sheaf sherds. The carved face depicts a kneeling figure swinging a pickaxe, so the Miner Pottery Sherd reads as a labour or mining scene and is one of four Desert Pyramid sherds alongside the Archer, Prize, and Skull sherds. Introduced in Java Edition 1.20 (snapshot 23w12a) and Bedrock Edition 1.19.80, the Miner Pottery Sherd stacks to 64 and is non-renewable, meaning each world holds a finite supply of suspicious sand to brush.

The Miner Pottery Sherd is consumed as one of four ingredients in a Decorated Pot, placed in the plus-shaped top, bottom, left, and right slots of a 3x3 crafting grid with the centre empty. Any mix of pottery sherds and Bricks is valid for those four slots, and using four Miner Pottery Sherds paints the kneeling-pickaxe motif on all four sides of the resulting Decorated Pot. Breaking a Decorated Pot built from a Miner Pottery Sherd returns every ingredient intact, so the four sherds stay fully recyclable and can be recovered and reused on a different pot design.
