Light Gray Cushion is a placeable seat item introduced in Minecraft Java 26.3: using the item sets down a soft cushion entity (an object in the world that is not a block) that any player can sit on. One Light Gray Cushion is crafted from three Light Gray Wool Slabs laid in a horizontal row, and combining any cushion with a matching dye recolors the cushion. A placed cushion cannot be mined the way blocks are: a single hit — even a projectile or an attack that deals 0 damage — breaks the cushion instantly, and a broken cushion always drops itself. Minecraft re-checks the support under every cushion every 100 game ticks (5 seconds), and a cushion whose support block is gone breaks shortly after. Light Gray Cushion is also destroyed by fire and breaks after a few seconds in lava.

Press use on a placed Light Gray Cushion to sit down; while seated, a player is unaffected by knockback, geysers, pistons and portals until standing up again. Cushions have no collision and rest on surfaces less than one block tall — slabs, stairs or snow layers — so a Light Gray Cushion sits flush on furniture and stair treads. A line of cushions spaced two blocks apart carries a seated player at 15 m/s while the use key is held, and faster input pushes the speed even higher.
