Description

Iron Golem Spawn Egg is a Creative-mode utility item that instantly summons an Iron Golem on the block face you use it against. The Iron Golem Spawn Egg cannot be crafted, mined, or obtained in Survival — it lives only in the Creative inventory or comes from the command /give @s minecraft:iron_golem_spawn_egg. Like every spawn egg, the Iron Golem Spawn Egg places a fully grown mob at full health the moment you right-click, with no breeding or growth stage involved.

The Iron Golem summoned by the Iron Golem Spawn Egg has 100 health points (50 hearts), patrols and defends nearby villagers and players, and attacks hostile mobs by tossing them into the air for 7 to 21 damage in Java Edition. On death the Iron Golem drops 3 to 5 iron ingots and 0 to 2 poppies. Builders use the Iron Golem Spawn Egg to instantly stock a village or base with a guardian instead of assembling the survival recipe of four iron blocks and a carved pumpkin. Use the Iron Golem Spawn Egg when you want a defender placed exactly where you need it, immediately and at full strength.

Java & Bedrock Guide

How to use the Iron Golem Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get the spawn egg

Open the Creative inventory and search for Iron Golem Spawn Egg, or run /give @s minecraft:iron_golem_spawn_egg in a command-enabled world. It is unavailable in Survival.

  2. 2

    Aim at a clear block

Hold the Iron Golem Spawn Egg and point at a solid block with at least 3 blocks of open space above it, since an Iron Golem is a tall mob.

  3. 3

    Use the egg

Right-click (Java) or tap-and-hold (Bedrock) on the block face to spawn a full-health Iron Golem exactly where you aimed.

  4. 4

    Let it guard

The summoned Iron Golem will automatically patrol the area and attack zombies, pillagers, and other hostile mobs near villagers and players.

Survival alternative

In Survival you cannot use the spawn egg. Build an Iron Golem instead by placing four iron blocks in a T shape and topping it with a carved pumpkin or jack o'lantern.
