Gray Cushion is an item that places a cushion — a seat entity rather than a minable block — added to Minecraft Java Edition in version 26.3. Crafting yields one Gray Cushion from three Gray Wool Slabs arranged in a row, and a cushion of any other color plus one Gray Dye recolors the result to gray. Cushions also generate naturally in abandoned camps, normally within 1–2 blocks of a campfire, in any of the 16 dye colors. A placed cushion cannot be mined: any attack, even a projectile or a blow dealing zero damage, breaks the cushion instantly, and a broken cushion always drops itself. The game rechecks cushion support every 100 game ticks (5 seconds), so a cushion left without a support block breaks at the next check.

Press the use key on the placed cushion to sit down; until the player dismounts, knockback, geysers, pistons, and portals have no effect. A cushion has no collision and rests on surfaces less than one block tall, including slabs, stairs, snow layers, wildflowers, and enchanting tables. Laid out in a line with two blocks of spacing, holding the use key travels at 15 m/s — faster than horse riding or minecart rails — while rapid presses reach 45 m/s and a keyboard-remapped use key reaches 60 m/s. Unlike wool blocks, cushions do not dampen vibrations: sculk sensors and sculk shriekers detect walking, jumping, sitting, placing, and breaking near a Gray Cushion. Gray Cushion is renewable, which keeps gray campfire seating repeatable instead of limited to abandoned-camp finds.
