Frogspawn is a fragile, non-craftable block that bred frogs lay on water in Minecraft, hatching 2–5 tadpoles 3–10 minutes later.
Description
Frogspawn exists purely as a hatching stage between breeding frogs and the tadpole mob, so the cluster is unobtainable as a Survival item. Frogspawn collapses the moment the supporting water is removed, the moment a piston shoves the cluster aside, or the moment a falling block lands on the cluster, so protected frog farms keep the water source stationary and uncovered above. Frogspawn was added in Java Edition 1.19 (snapshot 22w11a) and Bedrock Edition 1.19.0, with Bedrock formerly calling the cluster 'Frog Egg' then 'Frog Spawn'. For a reliable tadpole farm, breed frogs over a wide, still pond so each bred frog finds a valid water tile quickly and the deposited Frogspawn hatches undisturbed.

Collect slimeballs
Kill slime mobs in swamp biomes at night (or beneath layer 40 in slime chunks) to gather the slimeballs needed to breed frogs.

Breed two frogs
Feed one slimeball to each of two frogs. One frog enters love mode, then wanders off to search for a valid water tile instead of immediately producing Frogspawn.

Provide valid water
Keep a still water source block with air directly above it nearby. The bred frog swims to that tile and lays one Frogspawn cluster on the surface.

Wait for the hatch
Frogspawn hatches 2–5 tadpoles after 3–10 minutes. The timer ignores the `random_tick_speed` rule, so no command speeds the hatch up.

Keep the water stable
Do not remove the supporting water, push Frogspawn with a piston, or drop blocks onto the cluster — Frogspawn is destroyed instantly and drops nothing.
Frogspawn is unobtainable as an item in Survival and Silk Touch does not work on Frogspawn. Frogspawn exists only as a hatching stage, so plan the pond layout before breeding.
