Breaking Dark Oak Leaves without Silk Touch or Shears triggers their drop table instead of yielding the block. A non-Silk-Touch break drops a Dark Oak Sapling at a 5% rate (1 in 20), one to two Sticks at 2% (1 in 50), and an Apple at 0.5% (1 in 200). Dark Oak Leaves are one of only two leaf blocks in Minecraft that drop Apples, the other being Oak Leaves. The Fortune enchantment raises all three drop rates, topping out at Fortune III. Dark Oak Leaves carry hardness 0.2 and blast resistance 0.2, burn away instantly when fire or lava touches them, and a Hoe is the fastest tool in modern Java and Bedrock editions.
