Description

Crimson Fungus is a Nether plant added in Minecraft Java Edition 1.16 (Nether Update, June 2020) and the matching Bedrock release. Crimson Fungus generates naturally on crimson nylium inside the Crimson Forest biome, identifiable by its bright red cap and short stem. Players gather Crimson Fungus by breaking the plant directly or by hoeing crimson nylium, which has a chance to drop the fungus as an item. Crimson Fungus serves two distinct gameplay roles: it is the breeding and leading item for hoglins, and it is the seed for huge crimson trees. Hold Crimson Fungus to attract adult hoglins, feed two adults to breed a baby hoglin, and lead tamed hoglins on a leash. Place Crimson Fungus on crimson nylium and apply bone meal to grow a huge crimson tree built from crimson stems, shroomlight, weeping vines, and nether wart blocks. Crimson Fungus also fits in a flower pot to create Potted Crimson Fungus for decoration, and it has a 65% chance to raise a composter level when composted. Unlike red and brown mushrooms, Crimson Fungus cannot be used in mushroom stew or rabbit stew, and it does not craft a fungus-on-a-stick — that recipe requires warped fungus instead.
