Description

Bucket of Cod is obtained by using a filled Water Bucket on a cod swimming in the ocean — right-clicking the fish scoops it into the bucket together with its water. Bucket of Cod was added in Minecraft Java Edition 1.13, the Update Aquatic, and exists in Bedrock Edition as well. The item shows a water bucket with a small orange-brown cod inside, and it stacks only to one because each Bucket of Cod stores a single captured fish.

Emptying Bucket of Cod places a water source block and releases the cod at that spot, making it the safest way to move cod between oceans, rivers, and player-built aquariums without the fish suffocating on land. Players use Bucket of Cod to stock decorative tanks, build indoor fish displays, and relocate cod for cold-ocean farms. Bucket of Cod cannot be crafted; the only way to get one is to catch a wild cod with a Water Bucket in the cold, normal, or lukewarm oceans where cod naturally spawn.

Travel to a cold, normal, or lukewarm ocean and locate a cod — the common orange-brown fish that swims in small groups.

    Capture the cod

Right-click the cod while holding the Water Bucket to scoop it up, creating a Bucket of Cod that holds the live fish.

  4. 4
