Description

Block of Coal is a compact storage and fuel block crafted from nine coal in a full 3x3 crafting grid. One Block of Coal smelts 80 items for 800 seconds, while the nine coal used to craft it would smelt only 72 items separately. Block of Coal can be mined only with a pickaxe, and Block of Coal can be crafted back into 9 coal whenever smaller fuel stacks or torch recipes are needed.

Block of Coal works best for bulk smelting, storage rooms, super smelters, mines, factories, and dark industrial builds. Block of Coal should be saved for long furnace jobs because one small smelting task can waste most of the 80-item burn time. Block of Coal also sits under note blocks to make a bass drum sound, giving builders a second technical use beyond fuel and decoration.
