Raw Chicken stacks to 64 and is best used as a cooking ingredient rather than eaten raw. A furnace, smoker, or campfire turns Raw Chicken into Cooked Chicken, which restores 6 hunger points and 7.2 saturation with no side effect. A smoker finishes the job twice as fast as a furnace, so a smoker farm is the fastest way to convert a chicken coop's output into high-tier food. Raw Chicken was added in Java Edition Beta 1.8 Pre-release (the 2011 Adventure Update) alongside the hunger system that punishes eating it raw.
