Description
Brain coral blocks — along with tube, bubble, fire, and horn coral variants — generate naturally on the seafloor of warm ocean biomes. The brain type is identified by its pink-beige colour and a lumpy, convoluted texture resembling a mammalian brain. All five coral block types share identical mechanics.
Removing a coral block from water causes it to die within four seconds, turning to a grey dead coral block version unless immediately placed back in contact with water. Dead coral is not reversible — once grey, it stays grey. Using Silk Touch on a coral block collects it while keeping it alive, provided it is placed into water at the destination quickly.
A coral block cannot be crafted; it must be harvested from ocean biomes. However, four coral fan items of the same type can be crafted into one coral block in a two-by-two grid. Coral blocks can also be used as a pink-toned dye ingredient for crafting when the specific colour is needed. The distinctive organic texture makes brain coral block popular for aquarium builds, reef maps, and any underwater structure that benefits from warm colour variety.
