Description

Bogged Spawn Egg is a Creative-mode item that spawns a single Bogged — a swamp skeleton variant covered in mushrooms — the moment a player uses it on a block surface. Bogged Spawn Egg was added in Minecraft 1.21, the Tricky Trials update, alongside the Bogged mob itself, and exists in both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. Bogged Spawn Egg cannot be crafted, mined, or found in Survival mode; it is available only from the Creative inventory or the /give command (minecraft:bogged_spawn_egg). The egg uses the standard spawn-egg shape with a dark olive-green base and pale teal speckles that match the Bogged's mossy, fungus-grown look.

Players use Bogged Spawn Egg to test combat, build mob arenas, or stock adventure maps without waiting for a Bogged to spawn naturally in swamp and mangrove swamp biomes or from trial spawners in trial chambers. A Bogged created from the egg is hostile: it fires arrows that inflict Poison, has 16 health (8 hearts) instead of a normal skeleton's 20, and burns in daylight unless sheltered. When killed it drops bones and arrows, and shearing a live Bogged with shears yields a red mushroom while removing the mushrooms from its body. Map-makers rely on Bogged Spawn Egg to place this ranged threat exactly where an encounter needs it, and Bedrock players can load the egg into a dispenser to spawn Bogged automatically with redstone.

Java & Bedrock Guide

How to use a Bogged Spawn Egg in Minecraft

  1. 1

    Get the spawn egg

Switch to Creative mode and search 'Bogged Spawn Egg' in the inventory, or run /give @s minecraft:bogged_spawn_egg in any mode with cheats on.

  2. 2

    Aim at solid ground

Point the crosshair at the top of a solid block where you want the Bogged to appear, leaving open space above for the mob's full height.

  3. 3

    Use the egg

Right-click (use item) to spawn one Bogged; each use spawns another mob and consumes nothing in Creative mode.

  4. 4

    Prepare for combat

The Bogged is hostile and shoots poison arrows immediately, so spawn it inside a walled arena or keep a shield ready before testing the fight.

Important

A Bogged burns in daylight like other skeletons — spawn it in shade, indoors, or at night if you want it to survive the test.
