Black Cushion is a placeable seat entity introduced in Minecraft Java Edition 26.3. Like a painting, Black Cushion is not a solid block: any attack, even a zero-damage projectile, breaks the cushion instantly, and the cushion always drops itself instead of being mined. Players craft Black Cushion from three black wool slabs laid in a row, or turn any cushion black with a black dye. Black Cushion is renewable and stacks to 16, and abandoned camps generate cushions of all 16 colors within 1–2 blocks of a campfire. A placed Black Cushion needs a support block: the game rechecks support every 100 game ticks (5 seconds) and soon breaks a cushion left without support.

Pressing use on a placed Black Cushion seats the player, and a seated player ignores knockback, geysers, pistons, and portals until standing up. Black Cushion has no collision, so cushions rest on any surface less than one block tall, including slabs, stairs, and snow layers. A line of cushions spaced two blocks apart carries a player holding use at 15 m/s — faster than horse riding and minecart rails — and spamming the use key reaches 45 m/s. A regular furnace burns one Black Cushion for 50 game ticks (2.5 seconds), smelting one item per 4 cushions. Unlike wool blocks, cushions do not dampen vibrations: placing, breaking, or sitting on a cushion produces vibrations that a sculk sensor detects.
