Axolotl Spawn Egg is a Creative-mode item that spawns one axolotl when used on a block, added in Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs Part 1. Axolotl Spawn Egg cannot be crafted, mined, or found in survival loot — players obtain it from the Creative inventory or with the command /give @p axolotl_spawn_egg. The egg uses the standard spawn-egg shape with a pink base and brown speckles that mirror the Lucy axolotl's colors. Right-clicking water or land places the mob exactly where the cursor points.

Axolotl Spawn Egg always produces one of the four natural variants — Lucy (pink), Wild (brown), Gold, or Cyan — chosen at random, never the rare Blue variant that only appears through breeding. Builders use Axolotl Spawn Egg to stock lush-cave aquariums, decorative water tanks, and breeding pens fed with buckets of tropical fish. A dispenser loaded with Axolotl Spawn Egg spawns the mob when powered by redstone, handy for automatic mob displays and map-maker traps. Because spawned axolotls attack drowned and guardians, players also seed them near ocean monuments as living defense.
