Description

The Armadillo Spawn Egg is a Creative-mode item that spawns a live armadillo wherever you use it in Minecraft. Like every spawn egg, it cannot be crafted in Survival — you take it from the Creative inventory or give it to yourself with the command /give @s minecraft:armadillo_spawn_egg. The egg is brown with reddish-brown spots that match the armadillo's texture. Armadillos were added in Java Edition 1.20.5 and Bedrock Edition 1.20.80, and normally spawn only in savanna and badlands biomes, so the spawn egg is the fastest way to get one anywhere. Right-click the egg on a solid block to place an adult armadillo, which drops armadillo scute used to craft wolf armor. Use spawn eggs to start a scute farm, test mob behavior, or populate a build without searching the world.

How to use the Armadillo Spawn Egg in Minecraft

    Get the spawn egg

    Open the Creative inventory and search 'armadillo', or run /give @s minecraft:armadillo_spawn_egg in any game mode to obtain the egg.

    Hold the spawn egg and point your crosshair at the top face of a grass, dirt, or stone block where the armadillo should appear.

    Spawn the armadillo

    Right-click (or tap) the block to spawn a fully grown armadillo at that spot.

    Collect scute

    Wait for the armadillo to shed armadillo scute, or use a brush on it, then craft wolf armor from six scutes.

Version note

Spawn eggs only appear in the Creative inventory. In Survival you can use one only if you obtain it through a command. Armadillos were added in Java 1.20.5 and Bedrock 1.20.80.
