Ala Modlist

What is installed in your Minecraft, behind one link

Ala Modlist is a free mod that turns what is installed in your Minecraft — your mods and the game setup — into a short link. You see exactly what will be sent, confirm it, and share the link with a friend, a server admin or a support thread. More categories (resource packs, shaders, server info) are coming. This page explains what is collected, what never is, and how to delete a list.

The mod is not released yet

The link pages and the API already work. The download will appear here and on the mods page when the mod is released.

How it works

  1. Install the mod

Ala Modlist is a client-side mod for Fabric and NeoForge. You do not need it on a server, and nobody needs it to open your link.

  2. Run /alamodlist

The mod gathers a snapshot and shows a preview. Each category has its own switch, and the preview shows what will be sent. Nothing leaves your computer until you confirm.

  3. Share the link

You get a short link and a one-time delete code. On the page, mods whose files were found on Modrinth are marked with a tick and linked.

What a list contains

Version 0.1 collects the environment and mods (libraries included). The categories marked “Coming soon” are planned and are not collected yet.

Environment
Minecraft version, mod loader and its version, Java major version, and the operating system family (Windows, macOS or Linux; never its version).
Mods
Id, name and version of every mod, whether it is a library, the file name without its folder, and a SHA-1 fingerprint of the file, used to look the mod up on Modrinth.
Resource packs
Coming soon. Pack names, whether they are on, their order, and a fingerprint for packs stored as zip files.
Shader packs
Coming soon. The name of the shader pack and whether it is active.
Data packs
Coming soon. Singleplayer only: the packs of the world you are in.
Launcher
Coming soon. The launcher’s name and version, for example Prism or the Modrinth app.
Server
Coming soon. Off by default, and only while you are connected to a server: what the server itself tells your game — its software name and version and the mod channels it uses. The server address is never sent.
Plugins
Coming soon. Plugin names from the reply to /plugins that you run from the mod, or from output you paste yourself.
Title and note
A name for the list and an optional note, written by you.

What is never sent

The mod checks the final text before sending and refuses to upload it if it finds any of these.

  • Your Minecraft nickname, UUID or skin
  • Folder paths and your operating-system user name
  • Server addresses and names, and the name or seed of your world
  • Your IP address. The site sees it the way every website does; the mod does not read or send it.
  • The version of your operating system and the name of your computer
  • Tokens, environment variables and the contents of other mods’ config files

What a list does and does not prove

A list is a statement made by the player: the site cannot look inside the game, and anyone can send anything. The tick next to a mod only means that the fingerprint of that file was found on Modrinth. It does not prove the file is installed or that the list is complete.

No tick is not a warning. Mods from other sites, private builds and edited files are not on Modrinth, and we do not say why a file was not found.

Deleting a list

When a list is created, the mod shows a delete code once. Send it with DELETE /api/v1/modlists/{id} in the header “Authorization: Bearer <code>” and the list is gone for everyone at once. Keep the code: we store only a hash of it and cannot restore it. A list nobody opens for 90 days is deleted automatically.

Who is responsible

Ala Modlist is run by the operator of alacraft.day (AlaCraft). You can reach us through the contact form of this site.

What we receive

The list your mod sends after you confirm it (see “What a list contains”), and what any web request carries: your IP address, browser identifier, the time and the address requested. The mod does not read your IP address or send it.

Why we use it

To create and show the link you asked for, to look the files up on Modrinth, and to protect the service from abuse (rate limits, moderation). Legal basis: providing the service you request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in keeping it secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Who receives it

Our hosting provider Hetzner (servers in Germany) hosts the site. The site sits behind Cloudflare, which receives every request first and processes it under its own privacy policy (https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/); we do not control that processing. Modrinth receives only SHA-1 fingerprints of files from our server, never the list, its link or anything that identifies you. We do not sell data and do not use lists for advertising.

How long we keep it

A list is deleted 90 days after the last time it was opened, or sooner when you delete it. The application logs of the site are rotated and kept for 14 days. The web server’s access log records the address of the Cloudflare proxy rather than the visitor’s address; it is a separate server log, and the 90 days above do not apply to it. For lists and list endpoints that do not exist, the visitor’s address is not written to the application log.

Cookies

Pages of shared lists set only the cookies every page of the site sets — the language choice (locale, up to 400 days) and two technical cookies for security and the session (XSRF-TOKEN and alacraft_session, 2 hours) — and load no analytics, advertising or tag-manager scripts, so the secret address of a list never reaches Google. This information page is an ordinary page of the site and follows the cookie choice you made in the banner.

Your rights

You can ask us for access to, correction or deletion of your data. A list can be deleted at once with the delete code you receive when it is created. In the EU and the UK you can also complain to your data protection authority (Art. 77 GDPR).

Children

Ala Modlist is not meant for children under 13. If a child’s list was shared, a parent or guardian can ask us to delete it.

Reporting illegal or abusive content

If a list contains personal data, unlawful content or abuse, tell us with the “Report this list” button on the list’s page, or through the contact form: give the address of the list and explain why. We review reports and remove lists that break the law or these rules; a removed list answers with “410 Gone”.

Frequently asked questions

Who can see my list?
Anyone who has the link. It has no password and is not listed in search engines, but treat it as public, like an unlisted video.
Does the mod send anything in the background?
No. Nothing is sent when the game starts or crashes. The mod uploads only after you open the preview and confirm, and the preview shows exactly what will be sent.
Are my nickname or server address in the link?
No. Your nickname, UUID, folder paths and server addresses are never part of a list, and the mod stops the upload if it finds them in the text.
How long is a list kept?
Ninety days after the last time it was opened, not after it was created. A link that people keep using keeps working; a list nobody opens is deleted automatically.
What does the tick mean?
That the SHA-1 fingerprint of this file was found on Modrinth. The name and link shown next to it come from Modrinth. It does not prove that the file is installed or that the list is complete — a list is always made by the player.
Why was my mod not found on Modrinth?
Mods from other sites, private builds and edited files have no match there. It is not a warning about the mod, and we do not say why a file was not found.
Is there an API?
Yes, and reading needs no key. The contract is at /api/v1/modlists/openapi.json and as text at /api/v1/modlists/docs.md; the current limits are at /api/v1/modlists/limits.
Is this an official Minecraft product?
No. Ala Modlist is not approved by or associated with Mojang, Microsoft or Modrinth.
