How to Find and Use Angler Pottery Sherd in Minecraft
-
1
Craft a Brush
To excavate Angler Pottery Sherd, craft a Brush first. Place a feather in the top slot, a copper ingot in the middle slot, and a stick in the bottom slot of the crafting grid. The Brush is the only tool that can extract pottery sherds from suspicious blocks.
-
2
Locate cold ocean ruins
Angler Pottery Sherd spawns exclusively in suspicious sand inside cold ocean ruins. Cold ocean ruins generate on the seafloor of cold ocean and frozen ocean biomes — look for submerged stone structures partially buried in the seabed. Bring Water Breathing potions or build within Conduit range to explore comfortably underwater.
-
3
Identify suspicious sand
Inside the cold ocean ruins, look for suspicious sand blocks — they appear slightly lighter and more textured than regular sand. Hover over blocks if uncertain, as the name is visible in the tooltip. Each suspicious sand block has a chance to yield one pottery sherd.
-
4
Brush the suspicious sand
Hold the Brush and use it on the suspicious sand block. Keep holding the use button — the brushing animation plays over several seconds. When Angler Pottery Sherd drops, pick it up immediately. Brushing consumes the suspicious sand block regardless of the item found.
-
5
Craft a Decorated Pot
Place 4 pottery sherds of any pattern in a 2×2 crafting grid — no crafting table required, just the 2×2 section of your inventory. Each slot corresponds to one side of the Decorated Pot. Place Angler Pottery Sherd in any slot to display the fishing rod motif on that face. You can mix sherds of different patterns or use 4 identical ones.
Water Breathing potions lasting 8 minutes (extended with Redstone) or Conduit range make underwater exploration in cold ocean ruins significantly more comfortable.
